Which version of Credo is my library getting? Complete Core or Academic Core

Existing Credo customers will stay with their current version of Credo. All academic libraries without an existing Credo account will default to Academic Core. All public libraries without an existing Credo account will default to Complete Core. Any library can switch to another version if they prefer. Please contact the NC LIVE Help Desk if you would like to do this.

Credo’s Academic Core collection is a full-text database of reference ebooks, including encyclopedias, dictionaries and thesauri, handbooks, readers’ guides, atlases, primary source materials, and image and video collections, selected for academic researchers. With over six hundred titles covering the primary disciplines of Higher Education, Academic Core provides students with the reference tools they need to perform research at any level of study.

Complete Core is a curated content collection of over one thousand reference ebooks and image/video collections, designed for a wider audience than Academic Core. This package contains all content from the Academic Core collection, plus additional titles: for emerging researchers, juvenile content such as the DK Eyewitness and Handy Answer series; for career seekers, vocational titles and job search handbooks; and for the general public, accessible titles on health, pregnancy, cooking, and more.

About Credo Reference (descriptive blurb)

Credo is an easy-to-use tool for starting research. Gather background information on your topic from hundreds of full-text encyclopedias, dictionaries, quotations, and subject-specific titles, as well as 500,000+ images and audio files and over 1,000 videos.

Discover Credo

If your library uses a Discovery Service, you may be able to add Credo to your searchable content. Find more information about compatible services here. For libraries signing up to implement Summon through NC LIVE, we will preload your instance with Credo and other NC LIVE databases.

Administrative Accounts

Credo Reference will be sending all NC LIVE liaisons an email with account login information for their library's Credo administration account. This account can be used for things like usage stats, MARC records and customizations. NC LIVE will still provide usage statistics for Credo on our website, along with the rest of our vendors.
