NC LIVE has recently completed an upgrade to the technical infrastructure that powers our website, content and services. Bringing our software and hardware up to date enables us to provide more secure and higher quality service to librarians and patrons. The upgrade also positions us to leverage emerging technologies as they are developed. Some of the benefits of our infrastructure upgrade are:
1. Speed. Upgrading software and hardware enables our web pages and resources to load faster than ever before.
2. Security. Outdated software and web servers put our systems at risk to hackers. Our upgrade will keep us running securely for the foreseeable future.
3. Quicker deployment and issue resolution. Our new setup will allow us to deploy code and resolve bugs faster than ever.
4. Sustainability. In addition to upgrading technology, we also purged old code. Having less code on our servers will expedite future maintenance work.
5. Future-ready. By upgrading our systems, we have established a solid foundation on which we can build future-oriented, innovative technical solutions for our member libraries.
We are excited to have completed this technical upgrade! Though much of this exists behind-the-scenes, librarians and patrons will realize benefits now, and far into the future.
