THEME: LITERACY FOR ALL

Libraries have always supported literacy by helping children and adults learn to read. While traditional literacy remains essential to libraries today, the definition of literacy has rapidly expanded to encompass the broad range of skills needed to navigate the world in the 21st century.

North Carolina libraries are at the forefront of 21st century literacy and continue to create new programs and services that support lifelong learning. Libraries are not only creating inclusive literacy services for their patrons, but also looking inward at their own organizations to create policies and practices to support staff literacy.

Our 2022 theme, Literacy for All, is an opportunity to celebrate the innovative work of our 200+ member libraries and to build more inclusive libraries for all.
